Description

As some users asked for more... I give you a calibrated and ultra authentic capture of the following: This is my Sampson Era BadCat WildCat 40R with a matching cab based upon an early Matchless ESD212. This amp is mic'd with a Royer R121 on the edge and Shure SM57 on cone of the Celestion G12H30 Anniversary and a modern Sennheiser E906 on the Celestion G12M25 Greenback. The WildCat is, in essence, Sampson's take on the AC50 - an EL34 driven AC style circuit designed for the Beatles to help get them louder than their audience. So take an already incredible rare and sought after AC model and combine it with the Matchless heritage and genius of Sampson and you get this absolute gem of an amp. Obviously, despite not possessing the EL84s from the AC30 this amp is without a doubt still "CHIMEY" and I love that sound... but if you can't handle it, Don’t worry luckily there's thousands of other amps out there and whilst I could cut those out with the cut control: I think this amp sounds best untamed! All mics are going through an SSL 6000G series console (one of the first 5 built or so we reckon) with the (cleaner and better) transformerless mic amps and being summed together via routing matrix and individually mixed per tone via the faders. I spent a decent amount of time making this the perfectly engineered and ultimate BadCat WildCat 40R pack and it sounds as close as most will ever hear to the real thing. No added EQ or compression other than some very minimal high pass filtering to get rid of any flubby frequencies picked up as and when they occurred. Interface was a Focusrite RED 16Line and input was calibrated to +15dBu whereas send was calibrated to 22.25507...
