Description

I've uploaded updated captures of one of my CAPI VP28 500-series microphone preamps in Line Mode. The preamp is based on the circuitry in an API console. The signal passes through 3 transformers and 2 op amps. The concept is that it has an API 312 preamp (input transformer, discrete op amp, output transformer) and an adaptation of console fader circuitry (op amp, transformer). The preamp is configured with GAR2520 and GAR1731 op amps in the Preamp and Fader positions respectively. I used my RME UCX II interface set at 19dBu on the send and return. I used the rotary switches of the Preamp and Fader controls to achieve nominal unity gain (eg. +12dB Preamp and -12dB Fader). I recommend setting NAM to the Raw output mode. The intent is that you are essentially running your signal through my hardware insert. You can drive the input for more saturation if desired. Turn off the Gate for the full signal to come through. I originally uploaded low ESR Standard Architecture captures. I decided to also train some xSTD captures to see if it makes any difference.
