Description

The Legendary Tones/Keeley Time Machine Boost essentially contains the Keeley Java Boost (Vintage Mode, germanium treble boost) and Katana (Modern Mode, JFET) circuits. I took a peek and saw that the pedal was loaded with an AC187 germanium NPN transistor for its treble boost circuit. The Vintage side has a 1966/1973 switch for brighter/thicker treble booster sounds respectively. The Intensity control at max provides the classic treble booster response. Lower Intensity settings take the bite off of the boost. The Modern side is a full range boost has a Warp Drive switch that adds more gain. The most common applications are to add a treble boost an AC30’s normal channel or a Plexi normal channel with the pedal volume up high. I like how the Vintage Mode at Volume 5 drives my Peavey 6505’s Rhythm Channel. I recommend adding Bertom Denoiser Classic or Pro in front of NAM if you are boosting a distorted amp with these captures. Settings approximated from 0-10 in the following order: (Vin)tage/(Mod)ern (V)olume (I)ntensity Steinberg UR824 Line Out - United Studio Technologies Replay Box at 11.5dBu - Time Machine Boost - Warm Audio Tonebeast - Steinberg UR824 Line In at 13.4dBu I needed to drop the return volume due to the pedal’s big boost at higher settings. Input/output calibration metadata is included. I recommend setting the NAM Output mode to Calibrated. Or boost the Raw output mode of NAM by 1.9dB for to achieve the expected sound. The Normalized output setting will skew the output away from the intended sound for my tastes, but there are no rules. The captures were made with the TTSV10 input file with Dry-Wet training. The file is floating in the NAM community from The Tone Scientist. These were trained with the Standard Architecture at 1000 Epochs. Thanks for sharing these! I'm loving the Warp Drive mode on these captures.
