Description

This is a capture of my Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 (1987). I'm trying to recreate Slash's 1992 Tokyo tone. Signal path: Input -> Nady 950 GT Wireless -> Front of Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 |-| Jubilee FX Send -> Boss GE-7 (MIJ 1987) -> Boss DD-3 Digital Delay (Bypassed - MIJ 1987) -> Rocktron Hush IICX -> FX Return of Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 -> Marshall 2551B (1987 - Marshall Vintage speakers) -> SM57 microphone (1987) -> Neve 1073 preamp -> Output The amp settings were the following: Lead Channel Presence - 5 Bass - 6.5 Middle - 6 Treble - 5 Output Master - 7 Lead Master - 10 Input Gain - 6.5 The mic placement was on the sweet spot, edge of cone, on axis, about 1 inch from the grill cloth. The GE-7 is set to the classic frown shape, copied from actual photos of Slash’s 90s live touring rig. It was engaged for the capture. Notes: - The Boss DD-3 is not engaged, I’m only using it as a buffer here, which colors the sound. - The Nady 950GS is used because of the compander, also I use the bass boost on it (~1dB boost around 120Hz). Moreover, receiver was modified for standalone use, because the transmitter operates in the 800–820 MHz range. This frequency band is no longer legally permitted, as it is now allocated for 4G and 5G cellular networks.
