Description

Mesa Express 5:25 1x12 Combo (2010) fitted with a Celestion G12M Greenback. This amp has two channels, each with two modes; CH 1 CLEAN and CRUNCH, and CH 2 BLUES and BURN. These models are my standard settings for those modes (though I use the clean channel as a pedal platform most of the time). FOR BEST RESULTS with these models, set my DI guitar signal into the interface to average -18 dBFS, peaks around -12dB, and raise the Input on the NAM plugin 10 db. Unlike many other Mesa Boogie amplifiers, this is NOT a high gain monster and the metal heads among you may want to push the input even more or put a boost pedal in front of these. For fellow Express owners, or anyone interested, amp settings for these models are as follows... CLEAN Gain 1:30, Treble 1:30, Mids 10:00, Bass 11:00, Contour OFF CRUNCH Gain Max, Treb 1:00, mid 10:30, Bass 9:30, Contour 11:00 BLUES Gain 1:30, Treb 3:00, mid 10:00, Bass 11:00, Contour OFF BURN Gain 3:00, Treb 1:00, mid 1:30, Bass 9:00, Contour 9:30 Mic'd with a Sennheiser e906, 1.5" left of speaker dead center, Hi switch in the FLAT position. Control settings are... There are four other CLEAN models here which were used as tests for mic position. #1 - mostly upper mids #2 - More bass, less top #3 - Bright but balanced, similar to what I hear in the room #4 - Brighter again, best for most recording purposes. If you like them, let me know in the comments! ENJOY!
