Description

This Monacor SPA-250 10-inch 8-ohm ceramic bass & PA speaker from the 1980s comes from a fully refurbished original cabinet. It is paired with a diverse collection of 15 microphones spanning vintage and modern eras for highly detailed IR captures. The IRs are delivered with clean, unprocessed signals from each microphone. Every microphone-speaker combination was carefully recorded to preserve natural tonal characteristics, including mic placement bleed, balance, and frequency response. The captures provide both normal and bright textures depending on each microphone's voicing. The speaker was conditioned prior to recording, including running through sine sweeps and pink/white noise cycles to stabilize its behavior. Microphones were stored and powered in a dust-free, controlled environment, with signals routed through a neutral preamp and linear amplifier before reaching the speaker. Minimal noise removal was applied to maintain the original sonic signature. Post-processing included normalization at -3 dB, DC offset removal, and Voxengo Deconvolver with MP transform. Final IRs are normalized to -0.3 dB, producing clean, consistent, and high-fidelity impulses suitable for modern guitar setups, vintage recordings, or experimental applications.
