ESR is best when the signal is not compressed: the audio signal is more predictable. Comparatively, the NAM's CPU consumption is less than the total consumption of the plugins (oversampled) used in series. Among the plugins used: Audioscape(pre), RockRuepel(ampli), Manley(eq), Siemens(eq), Neumann(eq), Pultec(transfo), ShadowHills(transfo), SSL(valve), Elysia, Vertigo, Telefunken ... tested on bass, guitar and vocal tracks... For those who are interested, I can create your pre-amp channel composition upon request in the comments, bearing in mind that a flat frequency response is rarely achieved without equalization.
