Description
I want to share a real gem with you all, the Vox AC15 60th Anniversary Handwired amp. There are only 150 made of these, so I was pretty amazed when I had the chance to buy one a few weeks ago. A vintage AC15 is one of my dream amps, and the AC15HW60 is as close you can get, because it's a true copy of the old ones. This little set of profiles are free, of course (but donations are welcome). I plan a bigger commercial release later, but the road to get there is a long and winding one, and I will be a bit short on time in the coming months. There are four profiles of the amp with channels jumpered: Clean, EoB, Crunch and Drive. These were tuned to sound good with both humbuckers and single coils. Then there is one profile of the vibrato channel, and two of the normal channel, one with brilliance engaged, and one with brilliance disengaged. These 3 profiles are done with drive fully open, and cut at zero. I recommend that you set these up in parallel, and blend them together yourself, using the input volume in the plugin as your volume control. Also try to put a tremolo or vibrato plugin before the plugin carrying the vibrato channel profile, leave the depht close to fully open, and regulate the amount of the effect with the input volume going into the profile. If you use Reaper, there is an ecxcellent JS plugin called «AC trem» you can use. If you want to mimic the cut control in addition to blending channels like this, just sum both channel to a track before it goes to your solution for speakers, and put a simple lowpass filter on it. You may find that this amp is a bit on the dark side, and yes, it is. But with careful blending of the normal and vibrato channels, you can get a surprisingly nice variety out of it, ranging from the typical AC chime and jangle, to big, fat overdrive. Don't be afraid to lower the input volume all the way down towards -20 dB to get it to where you want it. There is a nice 12'' Celestion Alnico Silver speaker in this amp, but these are DI captures, so no speakers in this pack. I have stopped using IRs, so I will simply recommend the Neutron Audio Alnico Blue pack of Quantum Speaker profiles, it sounds excellent! And I especially recommend it to those that want Full Rig profiles instead of DIs plus IRs. Settings: 01-AC15HW60-Clean [DI]: Vibrato ch vol 5,5 – Normal ch vol 3,5, brilliance off, cut 2,5 02-AC15HW60-EoB [DI]: Virato ch vol 5,5 – Normal ch vol 5,5, brilliance off. Cut 2. 03 AC15HW60-Crunch [DI]: Vibrato ch 7 – Normal ch 5,5, brilliance off, cut 2,5 04-AC15HW60-Drive [DI]: Vibrato ch 7,5 – Normal ch 8,5, brilliance off, cut 3 The high input were used. Profiles 5-7 are, like stated above, done with the volume at ten, again through the high input. Technical: Reamp box: Lehle P-split III Loadbox: Two-Notes Torpedo Reload II (at 16 ohm) Reamp level is 8 dBu. I don't recommend using the input calibration on these, instead, if your guitar peaks around -12 dBs for single coils, or around -6 dB for humbuckers, you should have a healty level. And remember that I have made these profiles with active use of the plugin input level in mind. Enjoy! BTW, would you want to donate, you can do so at https://buymeacoffee.com/tkvellen
