Description

I made Full Rig captures of my Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Multi-Watt’s Red Channel Modern Mode into a Mesa Traditional 4x12 with V30s. These Full Rigs were recorded simultaneously with my Amp Head captures (see Linked Tones). I was trying to impart the Mesa 4x12’s impedance curve onto the captures of the Dual Rectifier. Luckily, the captures got converted to A2. Six settings were taken from my first Rectifier Red Modern pack. I recorded each setting through the Mesa 4x12 with an SM57. I wanted to know how each individual V30 in the cab sounded with the cab. I took one of the settings and boosted with a few pedals. The filenames reference the following abbreviations: TLDX - Wampler Tumnus Deluxe SD1 - Boss SD-1 OD808 - Maxon OD808 TMB-66, TMB-73 - Keeley Time Machine Boost 1966 and 1973 modes Speaker Positions are LL – lower left, LR – lower right, UL – upper left, UR – upper right The Upper and Lower Left speakers are a bit brighter compared to the thicker sounding speakers on the right. The SM57 mic positions are as follows: a - 0.50" (~1.3cm) from the cap center, on the grille b - 0.75” (~1.9cm) from the cap center, 0.50" (~1.3cm) off the grille Boosted captures use only the ‘a’ mic position because I ran out of patience making the pack. I trained the boosted captures after A2 came out, so I don't have the A1 versions of those rigs. However, it should be easy enough to add a boost pedal in front of the captures if you are using A1. All A1 captures trained at 1000 Epochs using the TTSV10 input file, from The Tone Scientist. https://shop.thetonescientist.com/ I had mistakenly deleted the A1 captures (Oops!), but had them saved on my computer. Input/output calibration metadata for 11.5dBu send/11.7dBu return was filled in during TONE3000 training. Full Rig Signal Chain: RME UCX II Line Out – United Studio Technology Replay Box at 11.5dBu - Mesa Dual Recto MW - Suhr Reactive Load Thru - Mesa Traditional 4x12 Cabinet – Celestion V30 - Shure SM57 - CAPI VP28 - RME UCX II Line In at 11.7dBu I think the Full Rigs sound a little different than the Amp Head+IR combo. For Sonicake Pocketmaster Users: When importing a A1 Full Rig Capture into the SPM, I had to remove some low end. I used the Bass EQ, and set both 50Hz and 120Hz frequencies to -10. Global Input Level was set to 0dB when I was comparing. Not the exact sound but close enough.
