A little Andertons history
Andertons has been at the heart of the UK music scene for over 60 years. Father and son Harry and Peter Anderton opened the shop in Guildford, just outside London, on June 6, 1964. It has remained a family-owned business across three generations.
What started as a small Guildford shop, where a teenage Peter took just 9 pence on the first day, has grown into one of the most recognized names in music retail.
Today, many players know Andertons through its videos, fronted by Lee Anderton, better known as “The Captain,” and Peter Honoré, better known as “Danish Pete.” Lee is the son of Peter Anderton and helped turn the family shop into one of the biggest guitar channels in the world. Pete is a longtime professional session guitarist who has toured and recorded with artists including Tom Jones, Lionel Richie, and Nicole Scherzinger.
Together, The Captain and Danish Pete became one of guitar YouTube’s best-known duos, mixing deep gear knowledge, great playing, interviews, demos, and the kind of on-camera chemistry that makes you feel like you’re hanging out in the shop with them.
