Description

2001 Bogner Metropolis - the craziest 30W now at your hands! OVERVIEW: A capture of the rare 2001 Bogner Metropolis combo with a 30W Celestion G12H Vintage Series, the original G12H specification. This combo is considered one of the loudest 30W combo amps ever built and has a very special character to it. The whole team couldn't stop smiling through the session and it is by far my favorite amp. SCHIZOS: The Bogner Metropolis features 5 different settings called "Schizo" that affect both mid frequencies as well as the gain-stages. From the Bogner manual: The Schizo switch is a Midrange Contour adjustment to enhance the sensitivity of the amp to different styles of playing, different guitars, different cabinets and different pick up configurations. Depending on your gain and tone settings, each of the Schizo functions can be made to help your guitar "speak". Position 1 at the far left is the brightest, most open, and essentially each setting as you move to the right of the switch is darker, or fuller. Some very basic indications are given in the chart below: Function - Description - Suggestion Schizo 1 - full & bright - neck pickup lead Schizo 2 - midrange cut - classic clean tone, spanky funk Schizo 3 - low & high boost - jangle crunch, middle pickup lead Schizo 4 - midrange boost - fat strat, humbucker growl Schizo 5 - low & mid boost - bridge pickup cranked CAPTURE: We carefully dialed in all sounds and checked back with multiple guitars (1972 Gibson ES-325, 2005 Suhr Custom, 2022 Fender Telecaster American Professional II and more) before capturing. All five Schizos, both clean and crunch, were captured with the following settings: CLEAN: Input: Dry Reverb: off Schizo: (per Capture) Gain: 8 o'c Bass: 12 o'c Treble: 12 o'c Volume: 9 o'c Presence: 12 o'c CRUNCH: Input: Dry Reverb: off Schizo: (per Capture) Gain: 10 o'c Bass: 11 o'c Treble: 12 o'c Volume: 9 o'c Presence: 1 o'c TECH SPECS: Method: T3K Sweep v3 Mic: Vintage SM58 w/o basket Reamp Box: LEHLE P-Split III Amp provided by a private collection. There are more captures of boutique amps and hardware in the making, feel free to follow! Have fun playing! SEMJON
