Description
Sharing my captures pack made from one of the two Peavey VSS20 heads my dad uses since the 80's, the audio interface is an Arturia MiniFuse 1, re-amped through an Walrus Audio Canvas Re-Amp box and then through an SMG Clock Blocker noise gate. The Peavey VSS20 is a watered down version of an old ass amp from Peavey, the Peavey Butcher, it was Peavey attempt at a modded Plexi Lead (and the grandpa of the 6505). This VSS20 head is old but has a neat trick, the amp is stereo and has a built-in chorus. My dad told me stories of him using a head + a mcguffin device he build that allowed him to use 4 1x12 cabs from this Peavey as a "splittable" 4x12. Two vertically stacked 1x12 went to the left side of the stage and the second pair went to the opposite side, and then engaged the chorus with the level at 0. This produced a very interesting stereo effect, like a doubler, but without it really being a doubler, it sounds better IMO. let’s call it the “Alfredo Corona Technique”. To get this effect on your DAW, copy your track, hard pan each copy to the left and rigfht, and then apply the "Out 1" capture to the left one and the "Out 2" capture to the right channel, that’s how you do the Alfredo Corona technique on software. Enjoy, its an excelent stereo effect. you're welcome. I made 3 captures of each channel, everything at noon. Channel 1 - Your tipycal 80s clean transistor tone, no chorus enabled. Channel 2 - The "supersat" (its distortion) button enabled, its a very good transistor distortion, still, you might want to boost it with an OD pedal or pedal emulation. According to my dad, the Ibanez SD 9 Sonic Distortion and the Boss HM-2 are great choices. "Out 1" and "Out 2" variants is the channel with the chorus enabled with the knob at 0. Out 1 is the capture of the Left ouput of the amp and Out 2 is the Right output of the amp. You are going to need both output captures in order to do the Alfredo Corona Technique.
