Description

The early 2000s called and wanted its tone back! Introducing METAL, the hard working and sane sibling to the most infamous tone of the 2000s. One click away from being INSANE, this default third channel METAL on the Spider II is actually very usable for 90s/early 2000s metalcore, death and melodic metal. Instead of insanely overgained mush everyone remembers you'll get a metal zone of sizzling tone that might just slaughter your soul! The Spider II: This 2000's box of insane tone and Guy Fieri aesthetic marketing hit every branch on the ugly tree when it fell down to earth. But in a time where most combos were one trick ponies, this box of horsepower radicalized the youth from all genres with it's affordable, easy and versatile tones. History is written by the victorious, so now it's mostly remembered as an infamous sludge of overgained tone by cork sniffing guitar nerds and arachnophobic parents of the early 2000s. While the insane channel definitely lives up to this cringey reputation, this little bedroom players staple can do way better in terms of metal tone. Here's where METAL comes seeking redemption. Captured from a 2000s Line6 Spider II bursting with 15w rage. The settings are (o' clock): drive 2:30, bass 12:00, mid 3:00, treble 3:00 and of course the METAL amp with no effects. This is it. If you want to fiddle with controls or different gains, get a Mesa ya' nerd. Recorded from the "record out" output in a dingy practice flat + mic'd SM57. Simple is best in this case. Depending on your sound you could use the preamp capture with an IR/EQ tweeks. You'll get the most authentic result with an IR of a full-range speaker. Line6 Spiders have Celestion Seventy 80, open back.

This should be classified as full rig, since the record out has a cab emulated and it sounds best run that way Fun fact: The reverse of this also works, Line 6 Spiders make great budget FRFR rigs. Celestion seventy 80 is very flat sounding therefore other sims run into the CD/Line in works pretty well.
