Description
The lead channel captured from a 1986 Mesa Boogie Mark III 60watt purple stripe with no graphic EQ. These may be too mid-forward for some tastes, but applying an EQ can have great results. The Fractal X-Load LB-2 load box was used, set to UK. Captured using the amp's DI output. Tone controls were the same for all captures: Treble=7, Mid=10, Bass=0, Presence=3.5 All push-pull knobs were down except for the lead channel switch. All captures were with the master volume at 7, which drives the power amp fairly hard. Around 8 the amp starts to oscillate. Captures are named according to gain and volume levels. lomed: volume (aka input gain) = 3, lead drive = 7 lohi: vol=3, lead drive=10 medhi: vol=5, lead drive=10 pushed: lead master=4 cranked: lead master=10 For my tastes, I prefer to keep the input volume lower and turn up the lead drive on this amp. The pushed captures have some power amp overdrive, and the cranked captures overdrive all the stages after the preamp.
