The captured gear I share on Tone 3000 is for my project outlines below: MODERN ROYAL JAMS is the solo music and visual project of Lucas McGee, based in Shellharbour, Australia. Fusing the raw aggression of heavy metal guitar with atmospheric textures and abstract visual storytelling, this project delivers immersive, instrumental experiences where sound and vision collide. Heavily influenced by the crushing riffs of Jeff Hanneman (Slayer) and Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah), as well as the lo-fi emotional grit of Sebadoh and the expressive, melodic guitar work of J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Modern Royal Jams bridges sonic worlds—metal, noise, shoegaze, ambient, and experimental. Each track layers dense guitars, polyrhythms, and raw tone with dissonant textures, delay-heavy ambience, and cinematic mood. Through video, drone footage, and photography, Lucas adds an abstract visual component that amplifies the emotional weight of the music. Every piece is a story told without words—just sound, space.
