(Hi-Z models coming soon) 2 Modules / Channels, each with 35 captures 70 models from my pair of API 512Vs. It's a little overkill but at least it's like having it in your hand. You have Mic & Line, 3:1 engaged/disengaged, Pad in/out for two 512's. 40 Mic models, 30 Line. 26 models with 3:1 - Output Transformer Tap; ...to drive the input and output harder for saturation and color. 18 with Pad engaged. PAD was engaged for an option to reduce aggressive top end or reduce proximity bloom while pushing the output transformer. API 512v – Classic discrete 2520 op-amp + transformer mic/line/instrument preamps: clear, punchy, dynamic, with detailed midrange, solid low end, and crisp highs. Clean and open at moderate gain; drive it and the transformers bloom with harmonic saturation and size without losing punch or clarity. Excellent DI for electric guitar and bass (weight + articulation), killer on rock vocals, drums, and anything that needs forward presence and attitude. API console character, saturation options, and mix-ready punch. Try it on your drum bus. GRAMMY-winning engineer/producer Steve Marcantonio (Aerosmith, Vince Gill, J. Geils Band, Taylor Swift) specifically praises the 512v’s 3:1 switch for the cool color it adds. It’s also cited as a favorite among engineers including Marcella Araica (Missy Elliott, Britney Spears, Timbaland projects). ~ Gain legend LOW = 7-9 o'clock MED = 10 -11 o’clock HIGH = 12-2 o’clock HOT = 3-4 o’clock SLAM = 4-5 o’clock TECHNICAL DETAILS MIC signal is captured from the front XLR.
