Description

Boss Black Edition Anniversary Pedal Captures This was a fun capture, having the chance to sit down and just mess around with these classics. Recently purchased the Boss DS-1 to complete my collection. Was also my first time playing one in probably nearly 20 years. Was using a Hughes and Kettner Tube Meister 36 into an Orange 112 with a Celestion V30 to pick setting that sounded good to me and that I would use. Boss SD-1 Standard Boost: Set to hit the front end of your already driven amp. Level all the way up, drive just very slightly up, and tone set around 10 o’clock. Wylde Drive: Zakk’s settings, worked better on a cleaner toned amp for me. Sizzle Drive: More for lead tones, adding extra sustain and drive. Level nearly all the way up, drive set to 10 o’clock, and tone all the way down Boss DS-1 Clean To Mean 1: Set to a clean channel amp for a nice mild distortion. Level at 11 o’clock, distortion at noon, and tone around 8 o’clock. Clean To Mean 2: Same setting as above but with the distortion knob nearly all the way up. Gritty Boost: This setting I used on an already driven amp to add some fuzzy grittyness. Level almost at 3 o’clock, distortion at 11 o’clock, and tone set to 10 o’clock. Boss MT-2: *Signal chain went guitar into MT-2 straight into the FX Return input on my amp, using only the power amp section. You can treat each of these captures as you would an amp head and not as a pedal* The Breakdown: A tone I would have used back in the hardcore/screamo days. High Noon: All knobs set to noon, pure metal zone tone. Thrash Zone: My attempt at a thrash metal sound. Boss SD-1 + DS-1: Super Distortion: Used on a clean channel. Super Overdrive going into a DS-1. Boss SD-1 + MT-2: Super Metal Zone: Also used directly into the FX Return input. Super Overdrive going into a Metal Zone. Captured using an Arturia AudioFuse 8Pre Interface and a Radial HP Studio Reamper box. Pedal is powered with a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power X4 Extender. Send Level (same for all): 6.42dBu Return Levels: Boss SD-1 Standard Boost: 12.72dBu Wylde Drive: 12.62dBu Sizzle Drive: 13.22dBu Boss DS-1 Clean To Mean 1: 13.92dBu Clean To Mean 2: 13.62dBu Gritty Boost: 8.22dBu Boss MT-2 The Breakdown: 16.42dBu High Noon: 14.92dBu Thrash Zone: 17.92dBu Boss SD-1 + DS-1 Super Distortion: 15.62dBu Boss SD-1 + MT-2 Super Metal Zone: 14.52dBu
