Description

6/22/26 - TONE3000 ended up training these as A2 captures. I had originally uploaded this pack right before the A1 to A2 transition. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to reshare since there aren’t any other Buzzaround captures on T3K. I built a Baldwin-Burns Buzzaround clone about 10 years ago using the Tagboard Effects vero layout. https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2012/02/baldwin-burns-buzzaround.html?m=1 The Buzzaround is most closely associated with Robert Fripp. The pedal is loaded with 3 Germanium transistors from a Smallbear Buzzaround set: 2 Motorola transistors of an unknown type, and a Texas Instruments 2N404A. Settings approximated from 0-10 in the following order: (B)alance (T)imbre (S)ustain Balance is a bias knob for the 3rd transistor that works as a volume control. Timbre is somewhat of a tone control that is thickest and loudest at maximum. I came up with 5 Balance and Timbre settings that were approximately the same loudness. I found that the basic tone didn't change too much when compensating for loudness, although there are nuances to be heard. I varied the Sustain at 4 settings to capture the major gain levels of the pedal. For the B-10 T-10 settings, I used the pedal’s added (V)olume control to attenuate the levels slightly at 8. Otherwise, the control was set at maximum to be essentially out of the circuit. RME UCX II Line Out - United Studio Technologies Replay Box at 11.5dBu Buzzaround - RME UCX II In at 11.7dBu Calibration metadata was entered for all captures. I recommend setting the NAM Output mode to Raw or Calibrated if you use the auto input calibration feature. The captures were made with the TTSV10 input file, an experimental training file shared to the NAM community from The Tone Scientist (https://shop.thetonescientist.com/) The A1 captures were trained with the Standard Architecture at 1000 Epochs.
