Description

One day I was fooling around, playing my Epiphone Les Paul through a cheap Byron Statics turntable using a female 1/4" to male AUX adapter. I recorded the speakers separately, along with the room sound, using a Shure SM57. When I listened back, I knew I had to capture some impulse responses from it. Opening and closing the lid cover changed the tone in a really cool way. It’s not the best tone you’ll ever get, but it’s definitely an interesting one for a quirky, artsy project. If you’re after a raw, DIY gritty tone for guitar or bass, this is worth a shot! I even set the Shure SM57 on another small combo amp stacked on some books to nail that authentic low-budget feel.
