Description

These are captures of a 2001 (I think) Krank early prototype 100W head. This was built prior to the official launch of the company and utilized a Sovtek MIG 100 chassis and transformers. Everything else inside was gutted and replaced with Tony's own hand wired circuit. The captures were done through a Mesa Boogie 4x12 cabinet, close mic'd with a Shure SM57, a Sennheiser MD421 Kompakt and a Neumann U87, all through an API 1608 console straight to Pro Tools. The "CLN" versions with the SM57 did not come out and I no longer have the amp to try again, but the other two mics did. Amp settings were all through the overdrive channel with all tone controls at 5 (straight up), and Master Volume at about 2 (still horrendously loud). Gain settings were at 1 (CLN), 2 1/2 to 3 (LOGN), 5 (MIDGN) and 10 (HIGN).

This is exactly the kind of rare gear tone that should be shared. Thanks!
