Description

This is a concept for an overdrive based on a Marshall BluesBreaker 2 (BB-2)'s "Blues" mode. I built and emulated this schematic via LiveSpice based on schematics from both the original Black-Box Marshall BluesBreaker pedal from 1991 and the Silver BB-2 from the 2000s, essentially stacking the clipping section of the BB-2 to the original. I've provided two captures at different tone settings, the "Dark" resembles what I remember as the tone of a BB-2 when I originally owned one with the tone at Noon. The "Bright" setting's tone was set to resemble the chimey-er sound of the Mooer Blues Crab I use as my always-on pedal. Some background: I owned and loved my old BB-2, it was the first pedal I ever bought and it was a massive loss for me when it was stolen over a decade ago at which point it had been discontinued and become hard to find, I've been chasing that white whale for years and seeing as I've had to move, lost a couple jobs, etc. I've had to put buying a used one on the back burner for years. I'm currently unemployed and after the loss of my mother this year I felt I should try to recreate some of the sounds she would hear me play when I was first learning guitar, I tried my best at recreating the sound I used to use as well as my memory serves and am now sharing my attempt hoping that someone else who loves that sound can have access to it or share their thoughts. In this captures things are set to just enough gain to get Fuzz-like spitzy breakup when hammering on the strings from a BB-2 on lower gain and tamed it down tow here you get all the clarity of an original BB-1 otherwise.
