Description

The Sears Silvertone Twin Twelve (Model 1484) is an iconic "piggyback" tube amplifier manufactured by Danelectro for Sears, featuring 60 watts (closer to 35-40W RMS), two 12-inch speakers, and built-in tremolo and reverb. Known for its grimy, garage-rock distortion, it is favored by musicians like Jack White for its lo-fi, "brown" sound. Captured with an SM57, Royer R-121 and mic sum. Swept volume from 4 to 10! For cleans, EOB and crunch. Flat EQ. Recorded through api 1608-II channel strips. Send 11.5dBu - Enjoy!!

I heard in one of your videos you were going to make impulses out of the tape echo ef x2: Please try to capture the following Would be great if you do that for slapback delay. 🎸 Typical Slapback Delay Times by Music Style Music Style Typical Time (ms) Feedback / Repeats Common Characteristics Rockabilly / Classic Rock (’50s–’60s) 80–120 ms 1 repeat (very low feedback, 0–10%) Gives that fast, dry echo — Elvis / Sun Records vibe. Country / Americana 100–140 ms 1–2 repeats (low feedback, 10–20%) Adds a spacious feel to vocals and guitars. Blues / Surf / Vintage Rock 90–130 ms 1 repeat Adds body without muddying the sound. Pop / Modern Indie 120–180 ms 1–2 repeats Used more for ambience, especially on vocals. Punk / Garage 60–100 ms 1 repeat Short, almost imperceptible bounce for raw energy. Vocals (slapback style) 100–150 ms Low feedback Makes vocals more lively and present without reverb. Electric Guitar (rhythm or lead) 90–160 ms 10–25% feedback Adds depth without cluttering the mix. An impulse of Spring reverb suited to do surf music as the ventures Dick Dale. Thanks in advance you are absolute legends in guitar historia cheers
