Description

I've uploaded impulse responses of my Marshall 1960TV 4x12 cabinet loaded with Celestion G12M25 UK-made Greenback speakers. I used a Beyerdynamic M201TG microphone on all four speakers. On-axis IRs in 0.25" (~0.6cm) increments from 0.00” to 2.00” (5.08cm) from the cap. My recommended starting point would be “M25 UL 1960TV 4x12 M201 1.50in 0.0in SA73.wav” The Beyerdynamic M201 has a little less top end than the SM57. I typically find myself moving the M201 closer to the cap than with a Shure SM57. I typically do not provide on-axis IRs of a Greenback with a dynamic mic pointed within 1.00" of the cap because I normally find the sound too harsh. However, the UK Greenbacks are much more usable than the MIC Greenbacks in this position. Still, the most useful tones are in the 1-2" area for me. The upper speakers in the slant position sound quite a bit different than the bottom speakers. It almost sounds like 2 different cabs when comparing the upper to the lower speakers. The Lower Left speaker is probably the brightest of all of them, and is closer to the MIC Greenback in terms of high end. I shot each microphone position through Stam SA-73 (Neve-inspired) and CAPI VP28 (API-based) microphone preamps. 24Bit 48kHz - 500ms - MPT Format Naming Convention M25 <speaker position> 1960TV 4x12 <mic> <Distance from Center> <Distance Off Grill> <Microphone Preamp> Speaker Positions are LL – lower left, LR – lower right, UL – upper left, UR – upper right Equipment Used: -Beyerdynamic M201TG -Behringer A800 Power Amp -Stam SA-73 Microphone Preamp -CAPI VP28 Microphone Preamp -RME UCX II Audio Interface -Voxengo Deconvolver
