Description
An awfully brown late 1970s to early 1980s solid-state gem captured with a sketchy DI setup. The EQ would otherwise be flat, but there's only one, slightly boosted position of the treble pot that will actual produce audio. Signal chain: Komplete Audio 6 mk2 line out -> -10dB XLR pad -> Millenium DI-E wired backwards -> this Japanese gem dialed way too loud for DI -> another Millenium DI-E, with the "Speaker" pad enabled, wired the correct way in parallel with the speaker using alligator clips -> Komplete Audio 6 mk2 line in one the front line ins with some gain to combat the heavy-handed pad These 4 tones have carried me through the past 7 years. The gain structure was dialed to produce what I adore at around -10dB or maybe a bit hotter with a classic EMG 85/81 set. Just pick either of the ch2 models, hit a chord spanning a couple of octaves and mute the bottom strings. First you'll experience the bass heavy JX35 fuzz, but muting the bottom strings yields an instant transition to a distinctly non-fuzz distortion. Or try out the ch1 tones. If you push them you can still land in that fuzzy bottom end territory, but, given a lighter touch, sound just like happiness.
