1980's MUSIC WORKS Cassette Recorder - PREAMP 1

Firstly, hello from New Zealand & thank you for visiting my post. ----------------------------------------------- PREAMP 1 CAPTURE SETTINGS: ----------------------------------------------- "DIMED" - TRIM MAX, VOL MAX, HI (TREBBLE) MAX, LO (BASS) MAX "CRUNCH" - TRIM MAX, VOL 7, HI (TREBBLE) 5, LO (BASS) 5 ------------------------------ PRODUCT HISTORY: ------------------------------ The Music Works REC-10 is a rare, vintage 4-track analog cassette recorder from the 1980s. It was built in Japan by Kanda Shokai (under the "Music Works" brand) and is identical to the Vesta Fire MR-10 released in other markets. It functions as a portable multi-track recorder and compact audio mixer ------------------------------ UNIT 090024 History: ------------------------------ I bought this non-functioning Japanese unit in 2025 as a 25th birthday present to myself on reverb.com. After repairing the cassette's tape amplification circuits and changing the belts, it has been working like a charm. Since owning this unit I have recorded plenty on it, including but not limited to: - Preamp Saturation (It's blended into SUPERSONIC's track "Not Into You" Spotify Link Below if you want to hear it in context ;D ) - Local Bands (Get that Cassette Speed Effect Going) - Bouncing for cassette tape giveaways. - Getting lost in the tape speed sauce. - Whole Track Bouncing (For that cassette warmth, warble, or even LOFI FX) Over time, I noticed the preamp creates a really unique and pleasant style of saturation and want to perform with it live and share it with the world. --------------------- EXTRA NOTES --------------------- If this post gets enough attention I'd be happy to look into trying to capture more settings or even the saturation of the Cassette recorder with tapes in it as well. I'm curious to see if cassettes of different age and quality will translate guitar tones with the new A2 models.
