Full licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Description: Full-rig capture of a real Ampeg VH-140C — the 140-watt solid-state head behind the classic '90s death metal chainsaw. This is the amp's signature voice: distortion channel (Ch A), gain at 3 o'clock, mids scooped (mid dial at minimum, bass/treble ~1–2 o'clock), the setting that defined an era of extreme guitar. Signal chain: guitar-level source → IK Axe I/O Amp Out → VH-140C front input (distortion channel) → speaker out → closed-back 2x12 with Celestion Vintage 30s (cloth grille) → Sennheiser MD421, edge of dust cap, 1 inch off the grille (stand taped, position photographed) → Axe I/O In 1. Onboard chorus off, reverb at zero, amp noise gate off — nothing between you and the circuit. Capture quality: trained at 48 kHz on the standard capture signal, 400 epochs; ESR 0.0090 (full architecture). Silent between notes, no time-variant effects in the chain. How to use it: cab and mic are baked in — no IR needed. Works straight into the interface. Feed it a tight gate and a boost in front (TS-style with drive at 0) for modern chug; run it bare for the authentic raw '90s wall. Tuned-down guitars are what this amp was born for. Captured from owner's hardware in a single QC'd session; the DI twin of this exact pass is uploaded separately (Dark Days — Ampeg VH-140C DI) if you'd rather use your own cabs. Drums on the album were tracked by Kevin Talley (Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira)
