Behringer 2600 - preamp only - ARP 2600 mono synthesizer clone - 2000s

The Behringer 2600 is a modern analogue recreation of the legendary ARP 2600, one of the most influential semi modular synthesizers ever built. True to the original architecture, it delivers dual oscillators, a flexible patching environment, ring modulation, sample and hold, lag processing, envelope followers, and that unmistakable vintage presence that defined countless classic recordings. Behringer’s take keeps the spirit of the original intact while providing a more compact and affordable way to explore the 2600 universe. For this capture session, the signal passes through the open VCF and open VCA. The 2600 offers two VCF positions but since resonance is set to zero, the difference between the variants is inaudible for this specific profiling purpose. With the filter fully open at 10 kHz, expect a natural treble rolloff that is part of the 2600’s inherent tone. At the beginning of the chain I used the preamp section and created three configurations to produce three drive levels. First, the input intensity is multiplied by x10, then x100, and finally x1000. These captures are intentionally exploratory and push the preamp far outside normal operation, so consider them sonic experiments and enjoy the textures they reveal. As usual, everything was captured through the Matribox II used as the DI, my preferred and consistent solution for routing and conversion in all recent sessions.
