Description

The Behringer K2 Mk1 is Behringer’s semi modular analogue clone of the legendary Korg MS20, faithfully recreating its dual oscillator architecture, patch bay flexibility, and famously aggressive personality. Unlike the original MS20, the K2 offers switchable dual filters (rev.1 and rev.2 styles), allowing access to both the early screaming Korg 35 character and the later smoother OTA based response. My unit is the Mk1, which suits me perfectly since it remains fully compatible with my beloved Korg X 911, preserving that quirky CV and gate relationship that only these MS20 line circuits deliver. For this capture set, the signal runs through an open VCF with both LP and HP peaks set at 5 to emphasise character and analog bite, and of course through an open VCA. Two variants are included: soft peaking and hard peaking. These are intentionally experimental captures made far outside most NAM best practice principles so explore them at your own risk, and above all else have fun. The K2 shows its personality when pushed and these captures lean fully into that. As with all my recent profiling sessions, the chain was captured through a Matribox II used as the DI, a workflow I now rely on exclusively for consistent and transparent routing.
