The HT-Dual has found its way onto pedalboards across genres, from the industrial rock recordings of Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails/Foo Fighters/The New Regime) to stages worldwide with players who rely on its rich, valve-driven harmonic distortion. The HT-Dual is effectively a two-channel valve preamp in a stompbox. Channel 1 offers switchable Clean and Crunch modes, delivering everything from a warm, transparent boost that pushes a tube amp into natural overdrive to a fat, grinding crunch with rich harmonic complexity. Channel 2 picks up where Crunch leaves off, spanning super crunch rhythm tones through to fully saturated, screaming lead distortion with singing sustain and cutting presence. Blackstar's patented ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) lets you sweep the entire EQ voicing continuously between classic British valve character and modern American high-gain. This gives you a tonal spectrum that ranges from vintage Plexi-style punch and warmth to tight, open, and aggressive US-flavored distortion. Both channels deliver the kind of tubey, harmonically complex grind that has drawn comparisons to everything from JCM900s and Hot Rods to Mesa Boogie Rectifiers, all shaped by two cascaded ECC83 (12AX7) triode gain stages running at true amplifier voltage (300V) for dynamics and feel that go well beyond what starved-plate tube pedals can achieve.
