Description

I captured my Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal. It is the MIJ version from 1985. Settings approximated 0-10 in the following order: Level - Color Mix L - Color Mix H - Distortion The following settings were explored: Level: 5, 7, 10 Color Mix L,H: 10,10; 9,9; 7,5; 5,8 Distortion: 0, 2, 5, 10 Three settings for the Level control are provided for those using input calibration to emulate the pedal's typical output settings. The Color Mix L and H set very high at 9 starts to get the signature chainsaw tone. I like running the Distortion at minimum into a distorted amp. However, higher settings are provided for those who want to run into clean amps. The difference between 2 and 10 isn't that drastic. The control is pretty much an off and on effect. The following capture approximates settings that David Gilmour used on the album About Face -Boss HM-2 Lv-7 L-7 H-5 D-5.nam The Gilmourish and Kit Rae pages about David Gilmour’s HM-2 setting are here: https://www.gilmourish.com/?page_id=52 https://www.kitrae.net/music/David_Gilmour_Tone_Building_1_2.html Signal Chain: RME UCX II Line Out - United Studio Technologies Replay Box at 11.5dBu Boss HM-2 - RME UCX II Instrument In at 11.7dBu I recommend setting the NAM Output mode to Raw or Calibrated if you use the auto input calibration feature. The captures were made with the TTSV10 input file, an experimental training file shared to the NAM community from The Tone Scientist (https://shop.thetonescientist.com/) These were trained with the Standard Architecture at 1000 Epochs.
