COILSHIFT: STANDARD PRECISION BASS EDITION
Transform your stock Fender P-Bass into 14 legendary active, vintage, and acoustic pickup configurations.
OVERVIEW
Coilshift is the first collection of pickup and control-harness digital twins engineered for Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) and the Darkglass Anagram pedalboard.
Rather than modeling an amplifier or speaker cabinet, these models capture the fundamental electro-acoustic physics of:
• Pickup coil inductances, eddy currents, and DC resistance
• Magnetic aperture geometry and spatial string comb-filtering
• Era-accurate potentiometer loading and tone capacitor values
• Instrument cable capacitance drag (750 pF)
• Active onboard discrete preamps and EQ buffers
This edition is specifically calibrated for a 34" Standard Precision Bass with stock passive split-coil pickups.
RECOMMENDED SIGNAL CHAIN
Place Coilshift as the very first block in your signal path:
[Fender P-Bass]
-> [Block 1: Coilshift NAM Preamp] (Input / Pickup Front-End)
-> [Block 2: Amp / Drive / Preamp] (Darkglass B7K, SVT, B-15, etc.)
-> [Block 3: Speaker Cabinet IR] (8x10, 4x10, 1x15, etc.)
-> [FOH / Audio Interface / DAW]
QUICK INSTRUMENT SETUP
• Physical Volume Knob: 100% (Wide Open)
• Physical Tone Knob: 100% (Wide Open)
Plug straight in. All impedance matching, aperture repositioning, and EQ contouring are handled automatically by the NAM models.
THE 14 DIGITAL TWIN VOICINGS
Jazz Bass Family
01. Modern Active Jazz Bass (NYC 2-Band)
Sadowsky-style active 2-band buffer with cable isolation (1M ohm in, 100 ohm out). Delivers wideband hi-fi sparkle, tight low end, and +4 dB active bass/treble boost.
02. Vintage '60s Jazz Bass Pair
Authentic 1960s dual single-coils loaded by dual 250k volume pots (125k net) and a 47nF capacitor. Natural woody low-mid resonance with the classic 3 5/8" aperture phase-cancellation mid-scoop.
03. '60s Jazz Bridge Single-Coil
Relocates magnetic sensing to the authentic 60s bridge datum (63.5mm from bridge). Focused midrange growl and Jaco Pastorius staccato finger attack.
Precision Family
04. Modern Ceramic Split-P (Boutique 500k)
Modeled after the Bartolini 8CBP with modern 500k volume/tone pots, a 22nF Orange Drop cap, and hybrid treble bleed. Tight, percussive transient clamp with aggressive high-mid pick presence.
05. Vintage '62 P-Bass (Alnico V)
Classic 1962 CTS 250k harness with Paper-in-Oil 47nF capacitor. Reduced eddy damping, organic dynamic touch sensitivity, and warm woody low-mid bloom.
06. Split-P Motown Rolloff (47nF Shunt)
Vintage split-coil with tone rolled completely to zero. Pure, pillowy sub-bass fundamental mass (James Jamerson / Pino Palladino flatwound tone).
P/J & Music Man
07. Modern Active P/J Bass
Modern ceramic split-neck and single-bridge pair with active 2-band buffer. Aggressive modern slap snap with deep, solid sub-bass foundation.
08. Vintage '80s Passive P/J Bass
1980s Fender Jazz Bass Special / Yamaha BB style Alnico V split/single pair with dual 250k volume loading. Thick hard-rock punch and woody mid bite.
09. Music Man StingRay (Active 2-Band MM)
Parallel dual-coil humbucker paired with an onboard discrete 2-band preamp. Authentic 2.5 kHz hollow mid-scoop with the signature 7.2 kHz metallic clank.
Progressive, Rock & Acoustic Transducers
10. Rickenbacker 4003 Bridge (4.7nF HPF)
High-output bridge coil loaded with vintage 330k pots and a 4.7nF series high-pass capacitor. Cuts sub-bass mud below 150 Hz for bright clang and grit.
11. P/MM Hybrid (Series Sum)
Precision split-coil and Music Man humbucker wired in series. Massive +6.0 dB inductive voltage boost with forward, muscular 1.6 kHz punch.
12. Gibson Mudbucker Ultra Series
Extreme overwound neck humbucker (14.4H inductance). Subterranean low end with steep natural acoustic top-end rolloff.
13. Dingwall Fanned Multi-Scale Bridge
34"-37" fanned-fret angled bridge sweet spot (48.0mm datum) with high-tension wave-speed clank filter.
14. Upright Acoustic Double Bass (Bridge Piezo)
Direct bridge force sensor simulation (Underwood / Realist style) featuring velocity-to-force leaky integration, 32 Hz rumble cut, and acoustic body bloom.
