Description

The RV-7 is a stereo reverb pedal from DigiTech’s HardWire series with studio-quality algorithms licensed from Lexicon. It offers seven reverb types: Room, Plate, Reverse, Modulated, Gated, Hall and Spring. It has true stereo inputs and outputs, and it also works in mono. It runs on constant high-voltage rails, which gives more headroom than a typical pedal and keeps noise low. This profile is a set of impulse responses of the pedal’s reverb, so you can load it in an IR loader or convolution reverb and reproduce the pedal’s space and tone. Please note: Despite the pedal having stereo ins and outs all captures are mono here. Other than that the pedal is often criticized for not having a dry/wet control. The level knob just blends the reverb to the dry sound with the only exception being the "Reverse" reverb type which is 100% wet only. However, I found that it's possible to achieve a kill-dry or 100% wet scenario for the other reverb types as well when using Input 2 only while still recording via Output 1. All captures here are done with this method so the dry/wet mix can be adjusted as desired in your software (e.g. T3K plugin). **Controls** Level: Sets the amount of reverb in the signal. Kept constantly at 10 here due to 100% wet method. Liveliness (L): Sets the amount of high-frequency content in the reverb. It works like a brightness or damping control. Decay (D): Sets the length of the reverb tail for all reverb types except "Spring" where it acts as an additional level control and was therefore kept constantly at 10 here when the pedal was set to "Spring". Type (written directly in the filename) selects the reverb algorithm: Room: A fast-decaying reverb, good for a touch of ambience. Plate: The classic studio reverb heard on many recordings. Reverse: Reverb in reverse, with a quiet build-up to full volume. Modulated: A lush, modulating reverb, well suited to chords. Gated: A reverb with an abrupt decay, good for percussive playing. Hall: A large, enveloping reverb with a warm decay. Spring: A classic surf-style spring reverb, also good for rockabilly. I recommend watching Vertex Effects' video about this pedal on YouTube (see below).
