Description

The Fender ‘62 Deluxe Amp is a modern reissue of the Fender 6G3 Brownface Deluxe. The amo is often described as sitting in between the Tweed Deluxe and the Blackface Deluxe. The amp breaks up later in the dial than the Tweed Deluxe. The drive gets the cranked Fender classic rock album sound that can get mistaken for an early Marshall-type sound. I have captured the amp’s Bright Channel for this pack. The channel consists of a Volume and a Tone control. The ‘62 Deluxe’s gain range with calibration enabled: Volume 3-4: clean to breakup Volume 6-7: crunch Volume 8-10: saturated, fuzz-like My recommended starting point is: DI Fender 62 Deluxe V-7 T-7 T6774A.nam which provides enough drive for both humbuckers and single coils. Use your NAM plugin output or DAW fader to increase the levels of the cleaner captures (V-3 and V-4) if you find them too quiet relative to the dirty captures. These captures are of the Amp acting as a head, a byproduct of taking a tap of the speaker level signal during Amp+Cab training. I created impulse responses of the combo’s, which you can find in the Linked Tones. The Amp+Cab captures of the amp and its Special Design speaker (Celestion T6774A cone) are also in the Linked Tones. Historically, the Jensen P12Q and Oxford 12K5 were the stock speakers in the Brownface Deluxe. As the 6G3 circuit re-emerged as of late, other popular speaker combinations include the Celestion Alnico Cream and Celestion V-Type (stock in the Suhr Hombre). I like combining the amp captures with my Speed Shop A12Q speaker impulse responses. It is based on the late ‘50s Jensen P12Q, but I think it sounds more like a ‘60s-era speaker. The amp was trained with the following loads: -Fender ‘62 Deluxe 1x12 with Fender/Celestion Special Design speaker (T6774A Suffix) -Suhr Reactive Load (SRL Suffix) Signal Chain: RME UCX II Line Out – United Studio Technology Replay Box at 11.5dBu - Fender ‘62 Deluxe - Load - Suhr Reactive Load Output - RME UCX II Line In at 11.7dBu
