Description

I made impulse responses of the Fender ‘62 Deluxe Amp’s speaker so I could dig into all of the tonal possibilities digitally in addition to hearing it in the room. One of the marketing points of the recent Fender ‘62 Brownface Deluxe reissue is that the amp comes with an exclusive Celestion-made speaker voiced for the amp. My guess is that the speaker could be adapted from the Celestion A-Type speaker, which is a mix of American and British speaker tones. The speaker’s model code is T6774A. An online search of that code interestingly brings up search results for the A-Type, although that speaker has it’s own code (T5925). The ‘62 Deluxe goes from clean to dirty, approaching thick fuzz-like tones when cranked. I think there are a lot of interesting colors between the cap edge towards the cone that can be explored. Moving the mic around as the amp’s Volume is adjusted is needed. Try it out with my ‘62 Deluxe’s captures, or with anything that would benefit from an American-voiced speaker in an open back 1x12 cabinet. 24Bit 48kHz - 500ms - MPT Format Naming Convention: T6774A <speaker position> 1x12 <mic> <Distance from Center> <Distance off Grill> <Off Axis Angle, if applicable> Equipment Used: -Shure SM57 -Beyerdynamic M201TG -Beyerdynamic M160 -Beesneez BU87i C -Sennheiser MD421 -Behringer A800 Power Amp -Stam SA-73 Microphone Preamp -RME UCX II Audio Interface -Voxengo Deconvolver 10sec sine sweeps were used to excite speaker
