Description

A 1975 Fender Twin Reverb redface, captured at volume 4 through a reactive load box with the cab sim bypassed. Reverb and tremolo fully off. Tone stack at neutral. No post-processing. This is the default NAM profile for my AUv3 amp plugin that implements NAM and IR. Volume 4 on this particular amp is not a clean setting — the redface circuit hits its sweet spot earlier than you'd expect in my experience and this is where it happens for me. Not distortion, but a bloom and compression that responds to pick attack in a way that a cleaner setting doesn't. The redface transition era has a midrange bite that the silverface models before it didn't have. It's subtle but it's there, especially on single coil pickups. You can throw a lot of pedals at it too. Echo dream 2 fuzz pairs really nice. A note on this capture: the load box used was rated at 8Ω against the Twin's 4Ω output — a small impedance mismatch that the manufacturer documents as acceptable for short sessions at moderate volume. In practice the capture came out well and the model sounds right, but the mismatch means the amp wasn't seeing its ideal load and the power section behavior is slightly different from what it would be into a matched impedance. At very high input and output gain settings simultaneously there is a faint high frequency noise floor audible during silence — this is an artifact of the capture conditions rather than the amp itself. A new capture using matched hardware is planned and will replace this version when available. Pair it with any 2x12 or 4x10 IR. Works well dry too. If you want beta the app, I'd really appreciate users giving real feedback. No cost of course! Reach out on socials. It's a small account :)
