Description

Model of a Gibson EH-125 octal tube amplifier from the early 1940s with a field coil speaker. This is the original speaker but has was re-coned in 2024. The amp is the little brother of the EH-150 famously played by Charlie Christian. This was recorded with an SM57 on the edge of the cone as shown in the picture. These amps have both a microphone and instrument channel. The mic channel is hotter, and was favored for a crunchier guitar sound. I have included models for both with volume on 5. There is also a variation of the mic channel with volume on 6 where I feel the wooly distorted breakup starts to happen in a more pronounced way. Great for early jazz, blues, country sounds.
