Description

About the Pedal The Greer Amps Lightspeed Organic Overdrive is widely considered one of the most transparent, touch-sensitive drive circuits ever created. Built around a light-to-medium drive architecture, it is designed to add rich harmonic complexity, presence, and tube-like response without altering the fundamental voice of your guitar or amp. Unlike heavy overdrive circuits that introduce a pronounced mid-hump or severe bass roll-off, the Lightspeed retains the open, airy frequency response and wide dynamic headroom of an amp right on the edge of clipping. When hit with heavier pick attack, it blooms into a smooth, uncompressed grit that feels entirely organic. Capture Methodology & Signal Chain These captures were engineered to record the exact analog dynamic footprint of the pedal with zero digital coloration or conversion bottlenecks.[DAW Sweep Signal] │ [SSL Interface Output] │ [Radial Reamp Box] ── (Low-Z to High-Z conversion, Ground Isolation) │ [Greer Lightspeed Input] ── (Level: 12:00 | Tone: 12:00) │ [Lightspeed Output] │ [SSL Interface Line/Hi-Z Input] ── (Recorded at 24-bit / 48 kHz uncompressed) Impedance & Load Matching: A Radial Reamp Box converted the low-impedance line-level sweep from the SSL Interface into a high-impedance, instrument-level signal. This ensures the Lightspeed’s input buffer and clipping diodes react precisely as if driven by passive guitar pickups. Conversion & Gain Staging: The output was routed directly into SSL converters at 24-bit / 48 kHz with clean headroom (peaking between -6 dB and -3 dB) to capture every subtle harmonic detail without clipping the interface. Pedal Baseline: Loudness (Level) and Tone controls were kept at 12 o'clock (unity/neutral) across all captures to isolate the exact behavior of the Drive control. Trained using Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) for exact dynamic fidelity. Models Included Greer_Lightspeed_Drive10_SSL_Radial.nam Settings: Drive: 10 o'clock | Level: 12 o'clock | Tone: 12 o'clock Tone Profile: Ultra-clean boost with subtle harmonic enhancement. Adds air, presence, and a touch of tube-like warmth to pristine clean channels or digital modelers. Greer_Lightspeed_Drive12_SSL_Radial.nam Settings: Drive: 12 o'clock | Level: 12 o'clock | Tone: 12 o'clock Tone Profile: Classic "organic" edge-of-breakup. Remains completely clean under light picking, blooming into light, glassy grit when digging in. Perfect as an always-on tone shaper. Greer_Lightspeed_Drive14_SSL_Radial.nam Settings: Drive: 2 o'clock (14:00) | Level: 12 o'clock | Tone: 12 o'clock Tone Profile: Full, rich light-to-medium overdrive. Delivers smooth, sustained overdrive with excellent chord clarity and zero mid-range congestion.
