Description

Jordan Boss Tone versions 1 to 3, and the MSA Pedal Steel Fuzz circuit. The latter is well-known as the "secret weapon" for the guitar recordings from the Smashing Pumpkins album "Siamese Dream." This was a quick request from a couple of people from StateOfMercury's Discord server because they were discussing guitar tones and gear from said album, and one of them remembered that I know how to use LiveSPICE and kindly asked if the MSA is simple to simulate. Long story short; versions 1 and 2 are straightforward, while version 3 and the MSA variant took me a few hours to figure out because they use a NPN/PNP Sziklai pair. Setting the IS (saturation current) to 0 A for the latter allowed the circuits to function properly. Anyway, these are really nice fuzz circuits. Similar layouts, but all of them sound quite different from each other, which is why I opted to do all 4 of these instead of picking the MSA only. ・Boss Tone versions 1 and 2 have a sharp, buzzy texture that gets out of control the more gain is pushed in. I'm not adept with fuzz distortion, admittedly, but I can hear these working really well for searing trebly lead sounds that cut through. ・Boss Tone version 3 and the MSA Pedal Steel Fuzz variant are more transparent, has lower gain, and closer to the Big Muff in terms of overall sound and input response. Better suited for rhythm work or smoother leads. [NOTES] ・All the models are captured with 8x oversampling and 64 iterations for the highest quality possible. ・All controls are flat so you can hear the amp as it is with neutral settings.
