Description

MADAMP J5MK1 Ultimate Collection **TL;DR Description** The MADAMP J5MK1 is a 5 Watt DIY-Kit Plexi-Clone. I hope you can find something usable in my profile collection. Have fun :) **Detailed Description** 1. WHAT IS THIS The MADAMP J5MK1 is a 5 Watt DIY-Kit Plexi-clone. My grandpa built this with me in 2014, so I branded it "Manfred" in memory of him and the good times we spend together when building this amp. Other than the obvious downsizing in output power this amp has a few modifications that make it a little more usable while still delivering these classic tones that we all know and love (details in the frontpanel explanation section). If you want to build this amp for yourself I provided a link in the website section below. This amp features two 12AX7 tubes in the preamp and one EL84 in the power amp. Don't let the 5 watts fool you, I played this thing live with the front of house telling me to turn down, also I put this next to a drummer on a 4x12 with him telling me to turn down because he had some trouble keeping up with the volume. 2. FRONTPANEL "Volume" and "Gain": These control the two preamp valves individually and behave like the high and low treble gain controls on a plexi "Fat" switch: Adds a low-end hump which can be useful if you play quietly at home, on louder volumes it can get a bit muddy "Bass", "Middle" and "Treble": Now these do a little bit more than your classic Marshall EQ, but don't expect too much unless you are doing serious changes "Master": Mastervolume that adds power amp saturation as you go up. This type of distortion is not tight but that might be exactly what you're after. I made two captures that are explicitly made around high power amp saturation, the others have minimal amounts - added to taste, just to keep things a bit tighter and low noise floor. "Gain" switch: Deactivates or activates the second preamp tube (V2). This is like an internal jumper (like patching the two channels on old plexis). "HCF" switch: High cut filter that removes some of the super harsh high end that's sometimes hard to deal with in classic Marshalls (witch certain guitars or speakers or rooms). Sometimes absolutely necessery, sometimes better to turn off because it gives you a nice lead boost and helps cut through a mix or band. 3. THE PROFILES 1: vol maxed gain 2 o'clock bass 8 o'clock mid 2 o'clock treble 2 o'clock HCF on 2: settings from 1, Boss BD-2 to boost the front of the amp 3: settings from 1, Tubescreamer to boost the front of the amp 4: settings from 1, HCF off 5: settings from 2, HCF off 6: settings from 3, HCF off 7: EQ settings from 1, master cranked, a little bit of high treble gain to fatten up 8: EQ settings from 1, master cranked, a little bit of low treble gain to fatten up 9: EQ settings from 1 vol 10 o'clock gain 3 o'clock HCF on 10: settings from 9, + Bluesdriver 11: settings from 9, + tubescreamer 12: settings from 9, HCF off 13: settings from 10, HCF off 14: settings from 11, HCF off 15: vol 10 o'clock gain 3 o'clock bass 2 o'clock mid off treble 2 o'clock HCF on 16: settings from 15, HCF on 17: settings from 15, + bluesdriver 18: settings from 15, + tubescreamer 19: settings from 17, HCF off 20: settings from 18, HCF off 21: vol max gain 9 o'clock bass 2 o'clock mid off treble 2 o'clock HCF on 22: settings from 21, HCF off 23: settings from 21, + bluesdriver 24: settings from 22, HCF off 25: settings from 21, + tubescreamer 26: settings from 25, HCF off 27: everything at 2 o'clock (if you know, you know) 28: everything at 2 + bluesdriver 29: everything at 2 + tubescreamer 30: settings from 1, a little bit more poweramp saturation, clean boost up front, gives me jcm800/jcm900 vibes HAVE FUN :)

This is awesome bro. It sounds incredible. I appreciate that you described exactly where the knobs are set in each capture; most people here just set everything to 12 o'clock (which fucking sucks) or give them ridiculous names that don't describe anything. Keep that shit up
