Description

Mansfield amplifiers were a Canadian brand that mostly sold “stencil” amps, meaning the actual units were manufactured by other companies such as Pepco (Pine Electronic Company) or Garnet and then rebadged as Mansfield. These amps were produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s and were built in a robust, over-engineered Canadian style, featuring large transformers and solid components. The brand seems to have been part of the trend of small Canadian manufacturers creating high-quality, Fender-inspired amps for the local and export markets. In terms of sound and design, Mansfield amps were heavily influenced by Fender circuits, particularly the Bassman and Super Reverb. They offered clean, punchy tones, often with both guitar and bass inputs, and were capable of handling high wattage when upgraded. While somewhat rare today, Mansfield amps are appreciated for their reliability, tonal clarity, and Fender-like voicing, making them interesting for collectors and players seeking vintage Canadian-built amps. Non-commercial IRs found on an old hard drive, I had a lot of fun with them whiile dabbling with my very first modeler on a beautiful summer day (Sonicake Matribox Mk1).
