Marshall JVM1C

The JVM1C was part of Marshall’s 50th Anniversary 1-watt series, a limited run of miniature valve amps designed to bottle the character of different eras of Marshall history. The JVM1 represents the modern end of that lineage, taking its cues from the full-size JVM series with a much more saturated, high-gain voice than the earlier anniversary models. Everything was captured in the full 1-watt mode. I also tested the 0.1 watt setting, but it sounded almost identical and, if anything, slightly worse, so I left those captures out. The clean channel on this amp is frankly awful, but with it pushed hard it turns into a nice crunch tone. The real reason to own this amp is the Overdrive channel. It is huge, rich, saturated and completely over the top in the best possible way. Loads of gain, loads of sustain, and that big modern Marshall thing. All captures use the same settings: GAIN 3 VOLUME 6 TREBLE 3 MIDDLE 10 BASS 3 PRESENCE 6 Codes: B Boosted with an MXR M77 R Resonance switch engaged The MXR M77 is set purely to goose the front end, with essentially no additional overdrive added. The Clean channel is Green, and the Overdrive channel Orange, borrowing the colour convention from the larger JVM amps. These are direct head captures, so you will need to pair them with an IR. In my opinion, a modern-sounding 4x12 works especially well. Enjoy ✌️
