Description

Three SD-1-boosted Dual Rectifier captures through a Marshall 2536 cabinet. The individual captures use different microphones and rectifier modes, detailed below. SM7B — Recti_HG711 Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier – High-Gain NAM Capture Red Channel (Modern Mode) + BOSS SD-1 boost Tight low-end, bold mids, and sizzling highs—ideal for modern metal and aggressive high-gain tones. Mic’d with a Shure SM7B (on-axis, cap-edge). While typically used on vocals, the SM7B also excels on guitar amps. Compared to the SM57, it captures a slightly wider image with smoother mids, making it easier to position and less prone to phase issues in single-mic setups. ※ Corrected to reflect accurate level values. ⸻ Capture Chain ・Re-amp interface: IK Multimedia TONEX Capture ・Signal Path: SM7B → Chandler TG2 → Rupert Neve 551 (light EQ during recording) → WesAudio NG76 (minimal compression; subtle harmonic enhancement) ⸻ Quick Gear Recap Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier • BOSS SD-1 • Marshall 2536 (2×12 Celestion V30) MD421 + SM57 — Recti Core Lead, Diode and Tube Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Red Ch. (Modern Mode) Power amp: Built-in 6L6 (Rectifier head) Two captures included: • **Recti Core Lead – Diode** • **Recti Core Lead – Tube** Same amp settings, —only the rectifier mode changes. Articulate modern high-gain lead tone—tight low end, scooped mids, and singing highs. Captured in both diode and tube rectifier modes using identical settings and phrase. Boosted with a BOSS SD-1 for extra focus and punch. **Mic’d with** • Sennheiser MD421 (main, on-axis) • Shure SM57 (adds definition and bite) Summed to mono via a Radial passive mixer for tight phase coherence. **Cabinet** Marshall 2536 2×12″ (Celestion V30) --- #Capture Chain • Re-amp interface: IK Multimedia **TONEX Capture** — LEVEL knob at 12 o’clock (≈ –12 dB pad) • **Send Level**: –9 dBu RMS at the amp input (DAW output –10 dBFS RMS ≈ +3 dBu RMS) • **Return Level**: Trimmed so the DAW reads –10 dBFS RMS (≈ +3 dBu RMS) • **Signal Path**: Guitar → BOSS SD-1 → Dual Rectifier Red Ch. (Modern) → Marshall 2536 2×12 (Celestion V30) → MD421 + SM57 → Chandler TG2 → Rupert Neve 551 (light EQ) → Radial passive mixer → WesAudio NG76 (subtle compression & harmonics) --- #Note To match the original gain and volume captured during profiling (Neural Amp Modeler plugin): Input Level   : –9 dBu Calibrate Input : ON Calibrate Output : OFF (Output Mode: RAW)
