Description

Three variations of a focused high-gain rhythm tone built around Channel 3 Modern of a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, captured at Mid 3, Mid 5, and Mid 9. An 80s-inspired metal voicing shaped through a later-era Dual Rectifier. A Boss SD-1 tightens the low end and brings the pick attack forward while keeping the Rectifier’s weight and depth intact. Captured with an Orange PPC212, mic’d with a Shure SM57 and Sennheiser MD421. The microphones were intentionally blended with a slight phase offset, adding depth and a subtle cab-like sense of space compared with my earlier captures. Mid 5 is the balanced starting point; Mid 3 is more scooped, while Mid 9 pushes the mids forward. NAM training results: Mid 3 — ESR 0.002766 (full) / 0.009970 (lite) · Loudness -16.76 Mid 5 — ESR 0.001750 (full) / 0.012320 (lite) · Loudness -15.75 Mid 9 — ESR 0.001708 (full) / 0.010130 (lite) · Loudness -15.39
