Description

This is a capture of my Orange OR15 that I use live with my instrumental prog rock/metal band, Vexmantra. The EQ is flat (bass, middle and treble at 12 o'clock), volume 4 and gain 6.5. The gain is roughly at the OR15's sweet spot where it has a good crunch but cleans up nicely as you roll the guitar volume down. Like the real OR15, this capture is quite reactive to guitar input and drive pedals. Reduce the guitar volume to clean it up, add a clean boost to kick it into higher gain. The OR15's 16 ohm speaker output goes into a Torpedo Captor reactive load box with the in-built cab emulation disabled and is recorded into Reaper using a Focusrite 2i2 gen 2 auto interface. The Full Rig model is the OR15 with Spectre Media Group's free Zilla Fatboy 2x12 SM57 and K47 IRs blended together. This model is best used as part of a modelling rig which DI's into a front of house sound desk, monitors, or FRFR cab. The output from the Torpedo Captor was recorded onto two mono tracks with their own IR and EQ effects in Reaper: SM57 IR - High pass at 100 Hz - Cut at 470 Hz - Cut at 3 kHz - 7.4dB boost at 7.3 kHz K47 IR - High pass at 100 Hz - Cut at 470 Hz - Cut at 3 kHz Both IR tracks were children of a parent track in Reaper, and the parent track was rendered at 48 kHz 24-bit. The SM57 track was reduced by 13.1 dB while the K47 track was at unity. The Head Only model has no IRs or EQ and is the direct output from the Captor with no further processing. This model is best used with a power amp and cab, or into a separate IR.
