Description

The pedal has 4 different diode circuits which are named in the file names. The tricky part starts when it comes the the control wheel / foot switch called fknob. The fknob has no mechanical endpoints and the set "value" is represented by color (gain) or pulse speed (volume) of the LEDs. However, to me it seems that the whole range of each parameter is covered by two full rotations of the fknob. On the photo you can see a black tape snippet on the fknob which I used as an orientation when adjusting. When reading the parameter values in the file names, imagine a clock with two full rotations of the hour hand from 0 to 24 hours. So a value of G12 (one full rotation of the fknob) for gain translates to gain 5 of 10 on a ordinary pedal, G24 (two full rotations) translates to max gain and so on. Hope, it makes sense. The ESR became drastically worse starting with the gain close to the highest setting but then the pedal also gets spitty, messy and noisy in real life so I left these captures if you want to experiment. They're at least not unusable when hit with a moderate input level / low output pickups. Some comments on the different diodes, referring to the manual without using the original wording: Schottky diodes Schottky diodes respond quickly and switch fast. If you want a direct, punchy sound that holds its own in a band mix, this is the option for you. It’s Josh’s signature sound. Vintage germanium diodes Germanium diodes give a soft, creamy, classic voice. They begin to distort early, so raise the Character control to compensate. They may sputter if you play hard. LED clipping LED clipping delivers a bold, loud distortion that cuts through, with plenty of headroom and a sharp attack. It works well for modern, well-defined tones, but may sound too harsh for vintage or blues styles. Silicon diodes Silicon diodes offer a clear, punchy, controlled distortion with tight bass and biting mids. Sitting between the warmth of germanium and the aggression of LEDs, they’re extremely versatile for shaping your tone.
