PRS HDRX20

The HDRX20 is PRS’s compact take on a late 60s Marshall plexi, with a couple of mods, built around a pair of 5881 power valves and voiced for that big, open, harmonically rich, thumping plexi sound. This pack keeps things simple, with three captures covering clean, crunch and fully cranked tones, blending the bass and treble volumes to achieve each tone. Each capture is paired with a boosted version using an MXR M77, adding no drive of its own, just boosting the level hitting the front end and shaving off a little low end. Settings were the same across all captures: PRESENCE 6 BASS 4 MIDDLE 10 TREBLE 8 The Master was wide open on every capture, which is really where this amp comes alive. Even the cleaner settings have that slightly hairy, responsive edge to them, while the cranked tone gets chewy and aggressive without losing definition. The High Mid Gain and Bright mod switches were always switched on. They just make the amp sound better, so I’ve not included captures with them off. These are direct captures, so there is no cab or speaker baked in. Pair them with your favourite IRs. I personally like a 4x12 with Greenbacks, but you do you. Enjoy ✌️
