If you haven't checked his catalog, stop what you're doing and go there now. sideland captured a Synergy SLO preamp module running through the Synergy power amp into a 2x12 V30 cab, mic'd with an SM58 (cap removed) — an unconventional choice that gives the original profile a presence and aggression you don't typically hear in SLO captures. The result is something more mix-ready and more ferocious than a traditional SLO: tighter low end, more bite in the upper mids, and a feel that sits closer to a pushed JCM800 than the smooth lead machine the SLO is usually associated with. The SLO capture file was reverse engineered from sideland's boosted full rig capture, cross-referenced against his cab-free unboosted capture, to isolate the boosted character without the cabinet — giving you that aggressive, pushed sound with full IR freedom. The Boosted profile takes the opposite path: starting from the unboosted cab-free capture and adding the FEDdsp SHI, to make it even more agressive and biting than the original. You can pair those with any IR of your choice. Standard — the cab-free version of sideland's full rig capture, boosted with his choice of OD.. Load your favorite 4x12 IR and you're there. Boosted — similar rig with the original boost replaced by a Fed DSP SHI, adding a focused mid push that tightens the attack and adds harmonic density right where the SLO loves it. More gain, more metal, same DNA. Both profiles are A2 architecture. Pair with a 4x12 V30 or Greenback IR for full size, or experiment freely — that's the whole point.
