The Throat Locust is a boutique heavy distortion pedal from Earthbound Audio, built as a modern expansion on the discontinued Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal circuit — the same lineage behind the classic Swedish death metal "chainsaw" tone. This capture pack documents the pedal's full range, from saturated doom/stoner crunch to tight, aggressive high-gain distortion. The Throat Locust's dual clipping modes give it real tonal range: Mode A runs standard silicon clipping diodes for a rich, saturated distortion, while Mode B blends silicon and LED clipping for a tighter low end, less compression, and higher output. A 3-band EQ (Low, Mid, High) plus a sweepable Mid-Frequency control — shifting the midrange focus point from roughly 1kHz down to 325Hz — lets the pedal move between scooped, mid-forward, and everything in between.
