Description

The Giggity is an analog overdrive and preamp pedal from Voodoo Lab, hand-built in the USA. Voodoo Lab also calls it an “analog mastering preamp”, a nod to the way a mastering engineer polishes a finished mix. It isn’t mainly a drive pedal. It is designed to improve the character of whatever guitar, pedals and amp you already have, adding polish, body and detail without hiding the guitar’s own voice. The Loudness control does add some grit and compression, so it can work as a drive on its own. It works well at the front of the pedal chain, after your other pedals going into a clean amp, or in an amp’s effects loop. **Controls (with respective letters as used in the file names)** Loudness (L): Sets the input gain of the preamp section. Low settings stay clean, and fully clockwise adds some grit and compression. Sun/Moon selector (SM 1/2/3/4/X going from sun to moon): A four-position voicing switch that sets the preamp’s overall gain structure and tone. Sun positions add shimmering high end, and Moon positions add weight and warmth. Note: the X denotes a 5th setting that I found when carefully placing the 4-position-knob in between of two positions. I don't know if something is bypassed in this position but it turns out to make the pedal hotter in terms of gain with a different character than any of the 4 positions. Body (B): Boosts or cuts the lower-mid and upper-bass range. Noon is flat, clockwise adds thickness and fullness, and counterclockwise tames a boomy or muddy sound. Air (A): Boosts or cuts the high-frequency range. Noon is flat, clockwise adds shimmer and detail from the pickups, and counterclockwise tames harshness. Master (M): Sets the overall output level. I chose to keep the body and air controls constant throughout all captures with the body at 4, slightly cutting the lower spectrum and the air at 6, slightly boosting the higher spectrum. Other than that I captured each of the sun/moon settings as well as the in-between-position with various amounts of loudness (gain) while applying a higher master level at lower gain settings and vice versa. Please note: these files were trained locally with official NAM 0.13.0 and 400 epochs because T3K has notified me that I was using the majority of their cloud resources with the training jobs of my previous captures. They still all include input and output calibration. I recommend watching Voodoo Lab's and Cordy's videos about this pedal (see below).
