For those unfamiliar with his story, Mark Sampson is widely regarded as the father of the boutique amp world. He was the visionary behind Matchless Amps before founding Bad Cat Amps, helping to launch the entire boutique amp movement. His creations have achieved near-mythical status for their unmatched quality, clarity, and definition. If the world of amps has a genius, it’s Mark Sampson—often compared to the Einstein of amplification.
Unfortunately for the amp community, Mark disappeared from the public eye around 2005. Despite the best efforts of many, it became almost impossible to track him down, much less get your hands on one of his amps. This led to what became known as the "Sampson Era," where his amps—rare and revered—skyrocketed in value, a testament to their unparalleled craftsmanship.
But after two decades, in 2025, Mark Sampson finally made his long-awaited public return! For his triumphant comeback, he set his sights on his most iconic creation: the DC30. Mark took this beloved design—one that has become a cornerstone of the guitar world—and brought it into the modern age, elevating it to new heights.
